The closest contrast is the be passive. Be passive is more neutral and more common in formal writing: “The meeting was cancelled by the manager.” Get passive is more conversational and event-focused: “The meeting got cancelled at the last minute.” Be can also describe a state, not an event: “The door was closed” may simply mean it was not open.
