Four forms, four meanings

English uses four similar-looking forms for different ideas. Use used to + verb for a past habit or past state that is no longer true, as in 'I used to live near the station.' Use would + verb for repeated past actions inside a past story, as in 'I would walk there every morning.' Use be used to + noun or -ing for something that feels normal now, as in 'I'm used to the noise now.'
