Is it known, new, specific, or general?

How the speaker expects the listener to identify a participant: new, known, specific, nonspecific, generic, unique, or shared.

Bengali has no articles; definiteness is often inferred or signaled by demonstratives and classifiers like -টা.
বইটা টেবিলে আছে।
The book is on the table.
Learners may not know when -টা sounds definite, familiar or specific.

Both languages use this block strongly, but they signal it differently. Focus on form changes, not only meaning.
