Pinocchio hung from the tree for a long time. Finally, the girl with blue hair looked out of her window again. She felt sorry for the puppet. She clapped her hands three times.
A large Falcon flew to the window. The girl was actually a kind Fairy (a person with magic powers). She had lived in the forest for a thousand years.
The Fairy told the Falcon to fly to the giant oak tree. She told him to break the rope with his beak. She asked him to put the puppet softly on the grass.
The Falcon did his work and returned. He told the Fairy that Pinocchio was alive. The Falcon said that Pinocchio breathed a little when the rope was gone.
The Fairy clapped her hands two times. A Poodle named Medoro appeared. He walked on two legs like a person. He wore a livery (a special uniform for a servant).
Medoro wore a beautiful coat and silk stockings. He had a wig of white hair. The Fairy told Medoro to get her best coach (a carriage with wheels pulled by animals).
The Fairy told Medoro to go to the oak tree. She told him to put the puppet on the soft cushions of the coach. She wanted Medoro to bring Pinocchio to her.
Medoro went to the stable. The coach was made of glass and had soft feathers inside. One hundred white mice pulled the coach. Medoro drove the coach very fast.
Medoro brought Pinocchio to the house. The Fairy carried the puppet to a beautiful room. She put Pinocchio in a bed. Then she sent for three famous doctors.
The three doctors arrived. They were a Crow, an Owl, and the Talking Cricket. The Fairy asked the doctors if Pinocchio was dead or alive.
The Crow felt Pinocchio's pulse (the rhythm of the heart). He looked at Pinocchio's nose and toe. The Crow said, "I think he is dead. But if he is not dead, then he is alive."
The Owl did not agree with the Crow. The Owl said, "I think he is alive. But if he is not alive, then he is dead."
The Fairy asked the Talking Cricket for his opinion. The Cricket said that he knew the puppet. He said he had known Pinocchio for a long time.
Pinocchio heard the Cricket and he started to shake. The Cricket said that Pinocchio was a very bad boy. Pinocchio opened his eyes for a moment.
The Cricket said Pinocchio was lazy and ran away from home. Pinocchio hid his face under the bed sheets. The Cricket said Pinocchio did not obey his father.
Everyone heard Pinocchio crying under the sheets. He was very sad. The Crow said, "When the dead cry, they are getting better."
The Owl disagreed again. The Owl said, "When the dead cry, it means they do not want to die."
