벤:Vocafy 집중 탐구에 오신 것을 환영해요。 벤입니다。 오늘은 클라라와 함께 Vocafy에 담긴 생각을 이야기해 보려고 해요。 클라라,이런 경험 익숙하죠。 스페인어 단어를 보면 뜻은 알아요。 그런데 막상 필요할 때는 기억이 안 나요。 정말 배운 게 맞을까요?

Ben: Welcome to Vocafy Unpacked. I'm Ben, and today I'm joined by Clara to talk about the thinking behind Vocafy. Clara, here's something familiar: I see a word in Spanish and know what it means. Then, when I need it, I can't remember it. Did I actually learn it?

클라라:그 단어에 관해 무언가는 배운 거예요。 단어를 알아보는 것,힌트 없이 떠올리는 것,누군가 말했을 때 이해하는 것,직접 사용하는 것은 서로 다른 능력을 요구해요。 한 가지는 익숙해도 다른 한 가지는 여전히 연습이 필요할 수 있어요。

Clara: You've learned something about it. Recognising a word, remembering it without a hint, understanding it when someone says it, and using it yourself are different demands. You can be comfortable with one and still need practice with another.

벤:그렇다면 알아보는 것도 발전이지만,더 연습할 부분이 있네요。

Ben: So recognising it is progress, but there's more to work on.

클라라:맞아요。 그래서 Vocafy는 다양한 연습 방식을 서로 연결해요。 유용한 표현 하나가 읽기 자료에도,복습할 내용에도,듣기 자료에도,직접 사용하는 연습에도 포함될 수 있어요。

Clara: Exactly. And that's one reason Vocafy connects different kinds of practice. A useful expression can be part of something you read, something you review, something you listen to, and something you use yourself.

벤:시작은 어떻게 하면 되나요? 정해진 코스를 따라가나요?

Ben: What's the starting point? Do I follow a course?

클라라:더 많은 안내가 필요하면 레슨을 따라가도 돼요。 하지만 이해하고 싶은 것이나 해 보고 싶은 것에서 시작할 수도 있어요。 수준에 맞는 자료를 만들거나,이미 가진 자료를 가져오거나,제공되는 콘텐츠에서 골라도 돼요。

Clara: You can follow lessons if you want more guidance. But you can also start with something you want to understand or do. Create material for your level, bring something you already have, or choose from the available content.

벤:구체적인 예를 들어 볼게요。 스페인어를 배우고 있고 여행을 계획 중이라면 어디서 시작할 수 있을까요?

Ben: Let's make that concrete. I'm learning Spanish, and I'm planning a trip. Where could I begin?

Clara: You could start by asking Vocafy to create a vocabulary set for your trip, with useful words, common phrases and example sentences. These collections are called Voca sets. You can listen to them while travelling or in your free time, choosing which language comes first, how often each item repeats, and how much time you have between them. Or you could generate a short reading about arriving in a new city, or a story with several chapters, at a level that suits you. A simple prompt can be enough to get started.

벤:이미 보고 싶은 여행 영상을 찾았다면요?

Ben: And if I've already found a travel video I want to watch?

클라라:브라우저 확장 프로그램으로 YouTube 영상을 가져와 자막을 활용해 학습할 수 있어요。 기사나 직접 쓴 글을 가져오거나,Vocafy에 이미 있는 책,영상,노래를 골라도 되고요。

Clara: You can bring in YouTube videos through the browser extension and work with their subtitles. You can also bring in an article or your own text, or choose a book, video or song already in Vocafy.

벤:꼭 정말 좋아하는 소재여야 하나요?

Ben: Does the material have to be something I'm passionate about?

클라라:아니요。 유용하다는 것만으로도 충분한 이유가 돼요。 업무 문서나 수강 중인 코스의 주제,앞으로 마주칠 상황일 수도 있어요。 핵심은 언어의 의미에 집중할 이유를 만드는 거예요。

Clara: No. Useful is a good reason too. It might be a work document, a topic from your course, or a situation you expect to face. The idea is to give yourself a reason to pay attention to what the language means.

벤:좋아요。 여행 이야기를 읽다가 기억하고 싶은 표현을 찾았어요。 그다음에는 어떻게 되나요?

Ben: All right. I'm reading my travel story, and I find an expression I want to remember. What happens?

클라라:표현을 선택해 뜻을 확인한 다음 어휘 목록에 저장해요。 원문 문장이 있으면 함께 저장되므로,나중에 문맥 속에서 그 표현을 다시 볼 수 있어요。

Clara: You select it, check its meaning, and save it to your vocabulary. Where a source sentence is available, that stays with it, so you can return to the expression in context.

벤:다음 날 다시 봤을 때 왜 저장했는지 의아해하지 않아도 되겠네요。

Ben: Rather than looking at it tomorrow and wondering why I saved it.

클라라:그렇죠。 지원되는 다른 텍스트에 그 표현이 나오면,강조 표시를 통해 이미 어휘 목록에 있다는 사실도 알 수 있어요。 아직 학습 중이든,아는 표현으로 표시했든 마찬가지예요。

Clara: Right. And if it appears in another supported text, the highlighting can show that it's already part of your vocabulary—whether you're learning it or have marked it as known.

벤:그게 학습 메모리라는 건가요?

Ben: Is that what you mean by Learning Memory?

클라라:그것도 일부예요。 학습 메모리는 저장한 어휘와 문맥,학습 상태,관련 연습 기록을 추적해요。 Vocafy의 여러 기능이 함께 활용할 수 있는 공통 기록을 제공하는 셈이죠。

Clara: That's part of it. Learning Memory keeps track of your saved vocabulary, its context, your learning states and related practice history. It gives different parts of Vocafy a shared record to work with.

벤:그럼 모든 단어를 얼마나 잘 쓸 수 있는지도 아나요?

Ben: Does it know how well I can use every word?

클라라:완전히 알지는 못해요。 단어를 저장했다거나 복습에 한 번 성공했다는 사실만으로는 전체를 알 수 없어요。 현재는 주로 어휘와 학습 기록을 연결해요。 단어를 알고 사용하는 다양한 방식을 더 잘 파악하는 기능은 계속 개발 중이에요。

Clara: Not completely. A saved word or a successful review doesn't tell the whole story. Today, it mainly connects your vocabulary and learning history. Understanding more about the different ways you know and use a word is something being developed further.

벤:표현은 저장했어요。 이제 기억하려면 어떻게 연습하나요?

Ben: So I've saved my expression. How do I work on remembering it?

클라라:여러 유형의 과제로 간격 반복 복습을 하며 다시 만나 볼 수 있어요。 표현을 떠올리거나,답을 입력하거나,문장을 완성하거나,듣기 연습을 할 수 있죠。 답을 알아보는 건 쉬울 때도 있지만,직접 만들어 내는 데는 더 많은 노력이 필요할 수 있어요。

Clara: You can return to it through spaced review, with different kinds of tasks. You might recall the expression, type an answer, complete a sentence or practise listening. Sometimes you'll recognise the answer easily; having to produce it yourself may take more effort.

벤:앉아서 질문에 답하고 싶지 않을 때는요?

Ben: And what about times when I don't want to sit and answer questions?

클라라:처음 만든 여행용 세트처럼 어휘 모음을 들을 수 있어요。 읽기나 다른 활동에서 유용한 표현을 추가했다면 그것도 포함할 수 있고요。 오늘 발견한 표현이 내일 듣는 내용의 일부가 되는 거예요。

Clara: You can listen to your collections, just like that travel set we started with. As you add useful expressions from your reading or other activities, you can include those too. So what you discover today can become part of what you listen to tomorrow.

벤:AI 튜터는 어디에서 활용하나요?

Ben: Where does the AI tutor come in?

클라라:대화를 나누거나,설명을 요청하거나,어휘를 연습하거나,특정 상황을 연습할 수 있어요。 여행을 준비한다면 호텔 체크인이나 기차표에 관해 묻는 상황을 연습할 수 있죠。

Clara: You can have a conversation, ask for an explanation, practise vocabulary or work through a situation. For your trip, you might practise checking into a hotel or asking about a train ticket.

벤:튜터도 배운 내용과 연결되나요?

Ben: Does the tutor connect to what I've been learning?

클라라:관련 어휘와 학습 기록에 접근할 수 있어서,학습 중인 표현을 연습에 활용할 수 있어요。 퀴즈나 복습 같은 도구를 불러오고,대화 중 새로 나온 표현을 저장하도록 제안할 수도 있고요。

Clara: It can access relevant parts of your vocabulary and learning history, so expressions you're working on can come into the practice. It can also bring in tools such as a quiz or review, or offer to save a new expression that comes up.

벤:대화를 저장한 단어에만 맞춰야 하나요?

Ben: Do I have to keep the conversation focused on my saved words?

클라라:아니요。 도움이 되는 방향이라면 어디로든 대화를 이어 갈 수 있어요。 연결 기능은 학습을 돕기 위한 것이고,튜터의 설명 방식과 교정 방식도 조정할 수 있어요。

Clara: No. You can follow the conversation wherever it's useful. The connection is there to support you, and you can adjust how the tutor explains things and corrects you.

벤:표현의 뜻은 알지만 발음하기 어렵다면요?

Ben: What if I understand an expression but struggle to pronounce it?

클라라:별도의 발음 연습 공간이 있어요。 학습 중인 단어나 어휘 모음으로 연습하고,목소리를 녹음해 다시 들은 뒤 피드백을 받을 수 있어요。 소리 내어 말하는 데 집중해 연습할 수 있는 방법이죠。

Clara: There's a separate pronunciation practice area. You can work with words you're learning or a vocabulary collection, record yourself, listen back and get feedback. That gives you a focused way to work on saying something aloud.

벤:읽기,복습,듣기,튜터,발음까지 이야기했는데요。 이 순서대로 따라야 하나요?

Ben: We've talked about reading, review, listening, the tutor and pronunciation. Is that a sequence I'm supposed to follow?

클라라:아니요,모든 기능을 사용할 필요도 없어요。 어떤 날은 글을 읽고 유용한 표현 두 개를 저장할 수 있고,다른 날은 복습하거나 레슨을 따라가거나 문법 검사기를 사용할 수 있어요。 중요한 건 배우는 내용을 중심으로 이런 활동들이 서로 연결될 수 있다는 거예요。

Clara: No, and you don't need to use everything. You might read something and save two useful phrases. Another day, you might review, follow a lesson or use the grammar checker. The point is that these activities can connect through what you're learning.

벤:그럼 처음에는 어떻게 시작하는 게 좋을까요?

Ben: So what's a sensible first step?

클라라:이해하고 싶거나 표현할 수 있게 되고 싶은 작은 것 하나를 골라 보세요。 그와 관련된 자료를 만들거나 열고,유용한 내용을 저장한 뒤 다시 돌아오면 돼요。 언어를 이해할 기회와 직접 사용할 기회를 모두 만들어 보세요。

Clara: Choose one small thing you'd like to understand or be able to express. Create or open some material around it, save what's useful, and come back to it. Give yourself opportunities both to understand the language and to use it.

벤:그 기회들이 서로 이어지면서 쌓이는 거군요。

Ben: And those opportunities can build on each other.

클라라:맞아요。 그게 바로 Vocafy의 바탕이 되는 생각이에요。 학습을 이어 가는 동안 유용한 언어 표현과 그 문맥도 계속 함께 가져가는 거죠。

Clara: Exactly. That's the thinking behind Vocafy: keeping useful language and its context with you as you continue learning.

벤:클라라,고마워요。 들어 주신 모든 분께도 감사드려요。 vocafy.net에서 Vocafy를 둘러볼 수 있어요。 다음 Vocafy 집중 탐구에서 만나요。

Ben: Clara, thank you. And thanks to everyone listening. You can explore Vocafy at vocafy.net. See you next time on Vocafy Unpacked.
