Practise by having a conversation
Knowing vocabulary and grammar is different from being able to use them in a conversation.
Conversation gives you a place to practise expressing yourself in the language you are learning.
You can start with a topic you are interested in, work on something specific or practise a situation you may encounter in real life.
The conversation continues from what you write, so you can ask questions, change direction and keep practising naturally instead of following a fixed script.
Choose the kind of practice you need
Not every conversation has to work in the same way. You can choose a session that matches what you want to practise.
Free talk
Have an open conversation about a topic of your choice. This is useful when you simply want to practise understanding and expressing yourself without following a lesson.
Lesson
Work through a more guided session. Vocafy can introduce a topic, explain language and ask questions to check your understanding.
Vocabulary
Focus the conversation on words and expressions you are learning, giving you more opportunities to meet and use them again.
Roleplay
Practise a real situation such as ordering in a restaurant, travelling or taking part in a job interview. Vocafy takes the other role and stays within the situation while you practise your side of the conversation.
Bring your saved vocabulary into the conversation
Words you save in Vocafy do not have to stay in a vocabulary list.
Conversation can use selected words and expressions from your learning memory as part of your practice.
In a normal conversation, this can help vocabulary you are still learning appear again in a meaningful context. In a vocabulary session, the conversation can focus more directly on words that need attention.
This gives you another way to move from recognising a word to actually understanding and using it.
Review vocabulary without leaving the conversation
Vocabulary practice can also happen directly inside the chat.
Vocafy can show a short multiple-choice question when a quick check is useful, so you can test yourself and then continue the conversation.
It can also bring in a vocabulary card that is due for review. When you answer it, the result becomes part of your normal review history and affects when that item should appear again.
This means a conversation can include real vocabulary review rather than becoming a completely separate activity.
Save useful expressions you discover
Conversations often contain words and expressions you want to remember.
When something looks useful, Vocafy can offer to save it together with an example sentence.
You decide whether to add it. Nothing is saved to your vocabulary until you approve it.
Once saved, it becomes part of the same learning memory you can use elsewhere in Vocafy.
Come back to earlier conversations
You do not have to treat every conversation as temporary.
Vocafy keeps your previous chats so you can return to a topic or continue practising later.
You can search and organise conversations, mark useful ones as favourites and archive those you no longer need in your main list.
Practise using the language, not only studying it
Start a free conversation, work through a guided session, practise your vocabulary or try a real-life roleplay.
