Pinocchio cried for a long time. The Fairy with the Azure Hair was afraid he would melt. Finally, she told Pinocchio that she was the Fairy. Pinocchio was very happy.
Pinocchio said, "I love you. That is how I knew it was you." The Fairy with the Azure Hair laughed. She said she was a little girl before, but now she was a woman.

The Fairy with the Azure Hair said, "Marionettes stay the same. They are born as marionettes and they die as marionettes." Pinocchio was sad. He was tired of being a marionette.
Pinocchio said, "I want to grow into a man." The Fairy said he could do that. But Pinocchio had to deserve it. He had to be a well-behaved child.
The Fairy with the Azure Hair said good boys are obedient (they do what they are told). Pinocchio said he was never obedient. She said good boys love to study and work.
Pinocchio said he was lazy. The Fairy with the Azure Hair said good boys tell the truth. Pinocchio said he always told lies. She said good boys like to go to school.
Pinocchio said school made him feel sick. But he promised to change. He wanted to be a good boy. He wanted to make Geppetto happy.
Pinocchio asked where Geppetto was. The Fairy with the Azure Hair did not know. But she was sure Pinocchio would find Geppetto again. Pinocchio was very happy to hear this.
The Fairy with the Azure Hair forgave Pinocchio. She saw that Pinocchio was very sorry. She said she would be his mother. Pinocchio jumped for joy.
The Fairy with the Azure Hair said Pinocchio must go to school every day. Then Pinocchio had to choose a trade (a type of job that needs special skills). Pinocchio became serious.
Pinocchio said he was too old for school. The Fairy said it is never too late to learn. Pinocchio said he did not want a job. He said work was very tiring.
The Fairy with the Azure Hair said everyone must work. She said lazy people are never happy. She said laziness is like a sickness. Pinocchio listened to her words.
Pinocchio said, "I will work. I will study. I will do everything you say." He wanted to become a real boy. The Fairy with the Azure Hair promised to help him.
