Create something for your level

Sometimes the material you want to learn from does not exist yet in the right form.

Start with a topic, story idea or situation that interests you and let Vocafy create material at a difficulty that works for you.

This can be a short reading about something you want to understand, a longer graded story, or material built around a particular theme or learning goal.

You can keep the request simple or give more direction when you already know what you want to practise.

The important part is that you do not have to choose between something interesting and something suitable for your level.

Bring something you already want to learn from

You can also start with material that already exists.

Add your own text, bring in an article from the web, work with a supported YouTube video, or use vocabulary from a course, book or other source.

For example, you might want to understand an article you have been meaning to read, study the language in a video about one of your interests, or continue learning from vocabulary you collected somewhere else.

You can start with material you already care about instead of being limited to a fixed sequence of lessons.

Save useful things while you browse

With the Vocafy Chrome extension, material you find on the web can be brought directly into the part of Vocafy where you can work with it.

Select a useful word or expression and save it together with the sentence where you found it. Save an article as reading material. Or bring in a supported YouTube video together with its subtitles.

You do not need to build a separate collection of links and remember to process them later.

Turn printed vocabulary into something you can use

Your starting material does not have to be digital.

Take a photo of a vocabulary list, textbook page or notebook and let Vocafy read the text. You can review and edit the result before continuing with it as learning material.

This can be useful when your course, teacher or existing notes already contain vocabulary you want to keep working with.

From content to interactive learning

Bringing content into Vocafy is only the starting point.

Supported texts and subtitles can become interactive learning material. Look up unfamiliar language without leaving the content, keep the original sentence in view and save useful words and phrases together with their context.

Vocafy can also recognise vocabulary you are already learning when it appears again. So a word you saved from an earlier text does not have to look completely new when you meet it somewhere else.

Depending on the type of content, you may also be able to listen, use translations, follow subtitles or work with the text in different views.

Keep what is useful to you

You do not have to save every unfamiliar word or turn every piece of content into an exercise.

Choose the vocabulary that matters to you, organise it into collections when useful and decide what you want to practise next.

When you save a word or phrase to learn, Vocafy can keep it together with its context and learning state. Later, the same vocabulary can come back in review, listening or other supported parts of Vocafy instead of remaining tied only to the content where you first found it.

The content gives you a place to discover language. You decide what is worth carrying forward.

Or choose something already in Vocafy

You do not have to create or import your own material every time.

Vocafy also includes content you can start learning from directly, including graded books, shorter readings, songs, videos and current news.

You can move between your own material and existing Vocafy content depending on what you feel like learning from next.
