Setting up your learning preferences helps Vocafy tailor your experience — suggesting the right level of reading materials, appropriate practice exercises, and relevant conversation topics.

How to set up or update your learning preferences

You can set your preferences during your first visit, or change them anytime:

  1. Click your avatar or profile in the top navigation and select Settings.
  2. Open the Learning tab.
  3. Under Learning Languages, click Add Language (or click the three dots next to an existing language and choose Edit learning plan).

Choosing your proficiency level (CEFR)

Vocafy uses the international CEFR standard, explained in simple terms:

  • A1 (Complete Beginner): You are starting from scratch or know only a handful of common words.
  • A2 (Elementary): You understand simple everyday phrases and basic sentence structures.
  • B1 (Intermediate): You can manage everyday travel situations and follow standard conversations.
  • B2 (Upper-Intermediate): You understand complex texts and communicate comfortably with native speakers.
  • C1 (Advanced) & C2 (Mastery): You can express ideas fluently, spontaneously, and grasp subtle nuances.

Do not worry about choosing the exact perfect level right away — you can update it at any time as your skills grow.

Setting your vocabulary and learning goals

In the same settings window, you can customize:

  • Vocabulary Target: Pick a collection target that fits your ambition (such as 1,000 words for conversational basics, 3,000 words for everyday fluency, or 5,000 words for broad mastery).
  • Learning Goals: Choose up to 3 main reasons you are studying (such as Everyday communication, Travel, Work & Career, Exams, or Hobbies).
  • Learning Focuses: Prioritize areas like Vocabulary building, Pronunciation, Conversation, or Reading comprehension.
