بِن: أهلًا بيكم من جديد في Vocafy من جوّه. أنا بِن، ومعايا كلارا. النهارده عندي سؤال عملي: ليه أعمل مجموعة مفردات بنفسي، وأنا ممكن أنزّل قايمة بأكتر ألف كلمة استخدامًا في الفرنساوي؟

Ben: Welcome back to Vocafy Unpacked. I'm Ben, and I'm joined by Clara. Today, I have a practical question. Why build my own vocabulary collection when I could just download a list of the thousand most common French words?

كلارا: قايمة كويسة بالكلمات الشائعة ممكن تبقى بداية مفيدة، خصوصًا لو لسه مبتدئ. بتديك اتجاه تبدأ منه. أما المجموعة الشخصية، فبتخلّيك تضيف كلمات وعبارات تناسب مواقفك واهتماماتك واللي ناقصك.

Clara: A good common-word list can be a useful starting point, especially when you're a beginner. It gives you some direction. A personal collection lets you add language for your own situations, interests and gaps.

بِن: يعني مش لازم أختار يا دي يا دي؟

Ben: So I don't have to choose one or the other?

كلارا: لأ. ممكن تشتغل على المفردات الشائعة، وفي نفس الوقت تحتفظ بمجموعة لسفريتك الجاية، أو لكورس بتاخده، أو للمحادثات اللي بتحصل في الشغل. كل نوع بيلبّي احتياجات مختلفة.

Clara: No. You could work with common vocabulary and also keep a collection for your next trip, a course you're taking, or conversations you have at work. They serve different needs.

بِن: خلّينا ناخد الشغل كمثال. لنفترض إني محتاج الإنجليزي للاجتماعات. أبدأ إزاي على Vocafy؟

Ben: Let's use work as an example. Say I need English for meetings. How would I start in Vocafy?

كلارا: ممكن تطلب منه ينشئ مجموعة مفردات على حسب نوع الاجتماعات اللي بتحضرها، ومعاها عبارات مفيدة وجمل كمثال. النوع ده من المجموعات اسمه مجموعات Voca. وممكن تضم عبارات تطلب بيها من حد يوضّح نقطة، أو تقدّم آخر المستجدات، أو تقترح الخطوة الجاية.

Clara: You could ask it to generate a vocabulary set for the kinds of meetings you attend, with useful phrases and example sentences. These collections are called Voca sets. You might include expressions for asking someone to clarify a point, giving an update or suggesting a next step.

بِن: يعني حاجة أقدر أستخدمها فعلًا، مش مجرد قايمة كلمات زي «meeting» و«report» و«deadline».

Ben: So something more usable than a list of words like “meeting,” “report” and “deadline.”

كلارا: الكلمات دي ممكن تكون مكانها في المجموعة برضه. بس عبارات زي «Could you clarify that?» أو «We’re still waiting for confirmation» بتديك حاجة تقدر تتدرّب على استخدامها كوحدة كاملة.

Clara: Those words may belong there too. But expressions such as “Could you clarify that?” or “We're still waiting for confirmation” give you something you can practise using as a whole.

بِن: ولو عندي بالفعل ملاحظات من حصة الإنجليزي؟

Ben: And if I already have notes from my English class?

كلارا: ممكن تضيفها هي كمان. تقدر تستورد محتوى، أو تحوّل قايمة مفردات متصوّرة لنص تقدر تعدّله، أو تعمل مجموعة عن طريق حفظ عبارات من المحتوى الموجود على Vocafy. وفيه كمان مجموعات جاهزة تقدر تستخدمها.

Clara: You can bring those in too. You can import material, turn a photographed vocabulary list into editable text, or build a collection by saving expressions from content in Vocafy. And there are ready-made sets you can use.

بِن: ده شكله هيوفّر وقت عن إني أكتب كل عنصر بنفسي. بس مش بنفتكر الحاجات أحسن لما بنعملها بنفسنا؟

Ben: That sounds less time-consuming than writing every entry myself. But don't we remember things better when we create them ourselves?

كلارا: أحيانًا، آه. فيه ظاهرة اسمها «تأثير التوليد»: الناس غالبًا بتفتكر الإجابة أحسن لما توصل لها بنفسها بدل ما تقراها وبس. زي مثلًا إن الواحد يستنتج كلمة ناقصة من تلميح.

Clara: Sometimes, yes. There's a finding called the generation effect: people often remember an answer better when they produce it themselves than when they simply read it. For example, working out a missing word from a clue.

بِن: طيب لو نسخت كلمة وحطّيتها في مجموعتي، ده يتحسب؟

Ben: Does copying a word into my collection count?

كلارا: النسخ لوحده مش هو نفس الفكرة. التفكير اللي يفيد فعلًا ممكن يحصل لما تحاول تفهم معنى العبارة، أو تختار المثال الأنسب، أو تجرّب تعمل جملة من عندك.

Clara: Copying alone isn't the same thing. The useful thinking might happen when you work out what the expression means, choose the example that fits, or try making a sentence of your own.

بِن: طب لو الذكاء الاصطناعي هو اللي جهّز المجموعة؟

Ben: What if AI prepared the collection?

كلارا: ممكن يوفّر وقت التحضير. وبعدها تقدر تشتغل على المحتوى: تتأكد إنك فاهمه، وتختار اللي يهمك، وتتدرّب عليه. إن الذكاء الاصطناعي يعمل لك قايمة حاجة، وإنك تطلع الإجابة بنفسك حاجة تانية.

Clara: It can save you preparation time. Then you can work with the material: check that you understand it, choose what's relevant, and practise. Having AI generate a list and generating an answer yourself are different activities.

بِن: لنفترض إني احتفظت بعبارة «Could you clarify that?». إيه اللي بيخليها خاصة بيا؟

Ben: Let's say I keep “Could you clarify that?” What makes it personal?

كلارا: ممكن تفتكر اجتماع كنت عايز تسأل فيه السؤال ده، بس ما عرفتش تلاقي الكلمات المناسبة. تقدر تربط العبارة بالموقف ده وتتدرّب على سؤال متابعة: «Could you clarify what you mean by delivery date?»

Clara: Perhaps you remember a meeting where you wanted to ask that question but couldn't find the words. You can connect it to that situation and practise a follow-up: “Could you clarify what you mean by delivery date?”

بِن: أنا من دلوقتي قادر أتخيّل هستخدمها فين.

Ben: I can already picture where I'd use that.

كلارا: ودي الفايدة العملية من ارتباط العبارة باحتياجك. بيبقى عندك سبب ترجع لها، وموقف تجرّبها فيه. مجموعتك ممكن تعكس احتياجاتك دلوقتي، وتتغيّر مع تغيّر الاحتياجات دي.

Clara: And that's the practical value of relevance. You have a reason to return to the expression and somewhere to try it. Your collection can reflect what you need now, and change as those needs change.

بِن: أحفظ إيه مع كل عبارة؟ الترجمة بس؟

Ben: What should I save with an expression? Just the translation?

كلارا: الترجمة ممكن تفيد. وجملة كمثال ممكن توضّح أنهي معنى تقصده وإزاي العبارة بتستخدم جوه الجملة. ولو لقيتها في نص أو فيديو، فالاحتفاظ بالجملة الأصلية من المصدر بيساعدك كمان تفتكر الموقف.

Clara: A translation can be useful. An example sentence can show which meaning you want and how the expression fits into a sentence. If you found it in a text or video, keeping the source sentence also helps you remember the situation.

بِن: والصور؟ الفكرة القديمة إن كل ما نشغّل حواس أكتر، نفتكر أحسن.

Ben: And images? The old idea is that the more senses we involve, the better we remember.

كلارا: الصور والصوت ممكن يساعدوا، بس كل واحد فيهم لازم يبقى له دور مفيد. الصورة ممكن توضّح شيء أو حركة. والصوت يخلّيك تسمع نطق العبارة. ولو المعنى مجرّد، حوار قصير ممكن يوضّحه أكتر من صورة.

Clara: Images and audio can help, but each should do something useful. A picture might make an object or action clear. Audio lets you hear how an expression sounds. For something abstract, a short dialogue may explain more than a picture.

بِن: يعني مش محتاج أعمل تحفة فنية مرسومة لكل عنصر.

Ben: So I don't need an illustrated masterpiece for every entry.

كلارا: أكيد لأ. ابدأ بمعلومات كفاية علشان تفهم كل عنصر وتتدرّب عليه. وممكن تزوّد أكتر لو لسه فيه حاجة مش واضحة.

Clara: Definitely not. Start with enough information to understand and practise it. You can add more if something remains confusing.

بِن: غالبًا الصوت هو الجزء اللي هستخدمه أكتر حاجة. ينفع أسمع مجموعة الاجتماعات وأنا رايح الشغل؟

Ben: Audio is the part I'd probably use most. Can I listen to my meeting collection on the way to work?

كلارا: آه. تقدر تسمع الكلمات والعبارات والجمل التوضيحية، وتعدّل ترتيب اللغات، وعدد مرات التكرار، والوقفات. كده تقدر تظبّط المجموعة على طريقة الاستماع اللي تناسبك.

Clara: Yes. You can listen to words, phrases and example sentences, and adjust the language order, repetitions and pauses. That lets you set up the collection for the kind of listening you want to do.

بِن: ينفع أسيب وقفة وأحاول أفتكر التعبير بالإنجليزي قبل ما أسمعه؟

Ben: Could I leave a gap and try to remember the English before it plays?

كلارا: آه، تقدر تستخدم الوقفات بالطريقة دي. اسمع التلميح، وحاول تفتكر العبارة، وبعدها راجع إجابتك. أو اسمع وبس لما تحب ترجع للمحتوى بمجهود أقل. دي طرق مختلفة للتعامل مع نفس المجموعة.

Clara: Yes, you can use the pauses that way. Hear the prompt, try to recall the expression, then check your answer. Or simply listen when you want to revisit the material with less effort. Those are different ways of working with the same collection.

بِن: ولما يبقى عندي وقت لتدريب بتركيز أكتر؟

Ben: And when I have time for more focused practice?

كلارا: تقدر تراجع المفردات من خلال مهام زي إنك تحاول تفتكر عبارة، أو تكتب إجابة، أو تكمّل جملة. وتقدر كمان تبدأ تدريب النطق من جوه مجموعة Voca، أو تتدرّب مع المدرّس على اللغة المرتبطة باحتياجك.

Clara: You can review vocabulary through tasks such as recalling an expression, typing an answer or completing a sentence. You can also start pronunciation practice from a Voca set, or practise relevant language with the tutor.

بِن: حاسس إني ممكن أتحمّس زيادة وأجمع مئات العبارات.

Ben: I can see myself getting carried away and collecting hundreds of expressions.

كلارا: ده سهل يحصل. الأفضل تبدأ بمجموعة صغيرة لهدف واضح. وادّي نفسك وقت تستخدمها قبل ما تزوّد حاجات كتير. وتقدر دايمًا تحفظ أي محتوى يهمك لبعدين، من غير ما تخلي كله أولوية فورية للتعلّم.

Clara: It's easy to do. I'd begin with a small collection for a clear purpose. Give yourself time to use it before adding much more. You can always save interesting material for later without making all of it an immediate learning priority.

بِن: أقرر إزاي إيه اللي يستاهل أركّز عليه دلوقتي؟

Ben: How do I decide what deserves attention now?

كلارا: اسأل نفسك: هل متوقّع أشوفه تاني؟ هل هيساعدني أقول حاجة محتاج أقولها؟ هل بيتكرر كتير في المحتوى اللي بشتغل عليه؟ مش لازم اختياراتك تبقى مثالية، بس الأسئلة دي ممكن تساعدك تركّز.

Clara: Ask yourself: do I expect to meet this again? Would it help me say something I need? Is it common in the material I'm working with? You don't need a perfect selection, but those questions can help you focus.

بِن: وبعد اجتماع حقيقي، ممكن أضيف حاجة ما عرفتش أقولها.

Ben: Then, after a real meeting, I could add something I struggled to say.

كلارا: بالظبط. ولو ظهرت عبارة من مجموعتك في مقال أو فيديو، هتشوفها في سياق تاني. ومع الوقت، المجموعة بتوصل بين تدريبك وبين اللغة اللي بتقابلها برّه.

Clara: Exactly. And if an expression from your collection turns up in an article or video, you get to see it in another setting. Over time, the collection connects your practice with the language you encounter outside it.

بِن: يعني بالرجوع لسؤالي الأول، القايمة الجاهزة لسه ممكن تبقى جزء من مكتبتي الشخصية.

Ben: Coming back to my original question, a ready-made list can still be part of that personal library.

كلارا: أكيد. سواء ولّدتها، أو استوردتها، أو اخترتها، أو بنيتها بالتدريج، فالهدف إن يبقى عندك محتوى مفيد تفهمه وترجع له. قيمة المجموعة بتيجي من اللي بتتعلّمه باستخدامها.

Clara: Absolutely. Whether you generated it, imported it, chose it or built it gradually, the aim is to have useful material you understand and return to. A collection becomes valuable through the learning you do with it.

بِن: كلارا، شكرًا ليكي. أظن هبدأ بالعبارات اللي دايمًا باحتاجها في الاجتماعات.

Ben: Clara, thank you. I think I'll start with the expressions I keep needing in meetings.

كلارا: دي شكلها مجموعة أولى مفيدة.

Clara: That sounds like a useful first collection.

بِن: وشكرًا لكل اللي بيسمعونا. نشوفكم المرة الجاية في Vocafy من جوّه.

Ben: And thanks to everyone listening. See you next time on Vocafy Unpacked.
