Vocafy's Pronunciation Practice uses your microphone to analyze your speech and provide instant feedback. If your microphone is blocked or not detected, follow these steps:
1. Grant browser permission
- Click the padlock, tune, or shield icon on the left side of your browser's address bar (next to
https://vocafy.com). - Find the Microphone setting and change it from Block to Allow.
- Refresh the webpage to apply the new permission.
2. Check operating system permissions
Even if your browser allows microphone access, your operating system may be blocking the browser itself:
- macOS: Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and make sure your web browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, or Brave) is toggled ON.
- Windows 10 / 11: Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and ensure "Allow apps to access your microphone" and "Allow desktop apps to access your microphone" are enabled.
- iOS / iPadOS: Open Settings > Safari (or your browser) and set Microphone to Allow or Ask.
- Android: Open Settings > Apps > Chrome (or browser) > Permissions > Microphone and select Allow while using the app.
3. Close other apps using the microphone
If another application (such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Discord, or a voice recorder) currently has an active, exclusive lock on your microphone, close that app and try again.
