One day, a cat met a fox in the forest. The cat thought, "The fox is clever, experienced, and everyone respects him." So, she spoke to him in a friendly way.

"Good day, dear Mr. Fox! How are you? How are you getting on in these difficult times?"

The fox was very proud and arrogant. He looked the cat up and down for a long time. Finally, he said, "You miserable mouse-hunter! You hungry fool! How dare you ask how I am? What have you ever learned? How many tricks do you know?"

"I only know one trick," the cat replied quietly.

"And what is that?" asked the fox.

"When the dogs are chasing me, I can jump into a tree and save myself."

"Is that all?" laughed the fox. "I know a hundred tricks, and I have a whole sack of clever plans. I feel sorry for you. Come with me, and I will teach you how to escape from the dogs."

Just then, a hunter arrived with four large dogs. The cat quickly jumped into a tree and hid among the leaves.

"Open your sack, Mr. Fox! Open your sack!" the cat shouted.

But it was too late. The dogs had already caught the fox and were holding him fast.

"Oh, Mr. Fox," the cat cried. "You have a hundred tricks, but you are still in trouble! If you could climb like me, you would be safe now."
