Focus on the sounds of the language you are learning

The International Phonetic Alphabet, or IPA, is a system for writing speech sounds.

You do not need to learn every IPA symbol to make use of it. Vocafy focuses on the important vowels and consonants of the language you are learning and organises them into a manageable sound guide.

Each language has its own sound guide. The examples and pronunciation information are chosen for that language rather than taken from one universal set of IPA examples.

This matters because similar sounds are not always used or pronounced in exactly the same way across languages.

You can switch languages and explore the sound system that is relevant to what you are currently learning.

Hear each sound as it is used in the language

A symbol is much easier to understand when you can hear it in the language you are actually learning.

Each sound comes with several example words from that language and audio you can play directly in the guide.

If you switch languages, the examples change too, so you hear the sound in the vocabulary and pronunciation system of the selected language.

This lets you compare examples and hear how the same sound appears in real vocabulary rather than learning the symbol in isolation.

Learn how to produce difficult sounds

For each sound, Vocafy can explain how it is formed, including practical details such as the position of your tongue, lips and mouth.

The guide also points out common mistakes and sounds that learners may easily confuse.

These explanations are shown in your own interface language, so you can concentrate on the pronunciation itself.
