Translate the text as a whole

Words and expressions can mean different things depending on the sentences around them.

Paste the text you want to translate and Vocafy can work with longer passages, using the surrounding text to help interpret what is being said.

This is especially useful when a sentence on its own would be ambiguous, or when the same terminology appears throughout a longer piece of writing.

Add the context that matters

Sometimes the text itself is not enough to choose the right translation.

You can tell Vocafy what kind of material you are working with or add other background that may affect the wording.

For example, you might explain that the text is part of a medical document, a legal contract, technical documentation or a particular type of business communication.

This helps Vocafy interpret terminology and expressions in the context in which they are actually being used.

Choose how the translation should sound

A good translation should not only communicate the same information. It should also fit the way the text is meant to sound.

You can choose between three styles:

• Normal for clear, everyday language;
• Business for more formal workplace and professional communication;
• Friendly for a warmer, more conversational result.

You can change the style without having to rewrite the original text.

Save context you use regularly

If you often translate similar kinds of material, you do not have to explain the same background every time.

You can save your instructions as a context preset and use them again in later translations.

For example, you could keep separate presets for medical terminology, legal documents or a particular kind of professional writing.

This is useful when the same subject, terminology or writing conventions appear repeatedly in your work.

Compare different ways to translate the same text

There is not always one single correct way to translate a sentence.

Alongside the main translation, Vocafy can provide up to two alternative versions when you want to compare different wording.

The alternatives are not simply a long list of synonyms. They give you another way to express the same part of the text so you can choose the version that fits your purpose better.

Your recent translations are kept in the translation history, so you do not have to start again if you want to return to something you translated earlier.
