In everyday French, voir goes far beyond physical sight. Speakers use it in fixed expressions to read between the lines, weigh options, anticipate what is coming, and point out how things are connected.

  • Learn whole phrases for spotting implications, such as voir où quelqu'un veut en venir and voir clair dans le jeu de quelqu'un.
  • Talk about how you judge or accept a situation with expressions like ne pas voir d'inconvénient à quelque chose, voir trop juste, and voir ce que ça donne.
  • Pay attention to small pronouns like y and en that often attach to voir in natural conversation.
