Alidoro was the name of the big mastiff (a very big and strong dog). Alidoro ran very fast behind Pinocchio. Pinocchio felt the hot breath of the dog. Luckily, Pinocchio was near the sea.
Pinocchio jumped into the water. Alidoro tried to stop, but he could not. Alidoro fell into the sea too. Alidoro could not swim. Alidoro hit the water with his paws. He began to sink. Alidoro cried, "I am drowning! Help me, Pinocchio!"
Pinocchio had a kind heart. Pinocchio asked, "If I save you, will you leave me alone?" Alidoro promised to be good. Pinocchio swam to the dog. Pinocchio caught Alidoro by the tail. Pinocchio pulled the dog to the shore.
Alidoro was very weak. He was full of salt water. Pinocchio did not trust the dog completely. Pinocchio jumped back into the sea. Pinocchio swam away and said goodbye. Alidoro thanked Pinocchio for saving his life.
Pinocchio saw a cave on the beach. There was smoke coming from the cave. Pinocchio wanted to dry his clothes and get warm. He swam to the rocks. Suddenly, a large net lifted Pinocchio out of the water.
Pinocchio was in a net with many fish. A Fisherman came out of the cave. The Fisherman was very ugly. He had green skin and green eyes. He had a long green beard. His hair looked like green grass.
The Green Fisherman was happy. He said, "I will have a great dinner!" He put his large hand into the net. He pulled out many fish. He put the fish into a large tub.
Finally, the Green Fisherman pulled Pinocchio out of the net. The Fisherman was surprised. He asked, "What kind of fish is this?" He looked at Pinocchio. Then he said, "I think this is a crab."
Pinocchio was angry. Pinocchio said, "I am not a crab! I am a marionette!" The Fisherman said, "I never ate a marionette fish. I will enjoy eating you."
Pinocchio cried, "I am not a fish! I can talk!" The Fisherman said, "You are a talking fish. That is special. How do you want me to cook you? Do you want to be fried in a pan?"
Pinocchio wanted to go home. But the Fisherman did not listen. The Fisherman tied Pinocchio with a cord. He threw Pinocchio into the tub with the other fish.
The Fisherman took some flour. He rolled the fish in the flour. Then he threw them into a pan of hot oil. Pinocchio was the last one. Pinocchio was very scared. He could not speak.
The Fisherman rolled Pinocchio in the flour. Pinocchio looked white like a doll made of chalk. The Fisherman picked Pinocchio up by the head.
