Englisch nutzt Kontraktionen wie she's oder don't, bei denen Funktionswörter klanglich an andere Wörter anschließen; solche angehängten Kleinwörter sind aber weniger zentral als in vielen romanischen oder slawischen Sprachen.

„she's“ = zusammengezogene Form von „she is“; das Funktionswort hängt klanglich an „she“.
Lernende vermeiden Kontraktionen oft und klingen dadurch steif, oder sie verwenden sie in zu formeller Schriftsprache.
