The daring rescue was a success, and Passepartout laughed proudly at his clever trick. Mr. Fogg praised him with a rare "Well done!" The young Indian woman, Aouda, was still unconscious from the heavy drugs, so she slept safely wrapped in a blanket as the elephant carried them rapidly through the dark forest.

When they finally stopped to rest, Aouda was still in a deep sleep. Sir Francis was highly concerned about her future. He warned Mr. Fogg that the local religious extremists would hunt her down anywhere in India. She would only be truly safe if she left the country entirely. Fogg calmly replied that he would think about it.

By ten o'clock, they reached the train station at Allahabad. Fortunately, the railway tracks continued from this city. While they waited for the train, Passepartout rushed into the streets to buy European dresses and warm winter coats for Aouda, paying a high price without a second thought.

Before boarding, Mr. Fogg paid their guide the agreed amount of money. However, he knew the man had risked his life for them. "I have paid for your service, but not for your loyalty," Fogg told him. "Would you like to have this elephant? He is yours." The guide was absolutely thrilled to receive such a massive fortune. Passepartout happily fed the brave animal a few last sugar cubes to say goodbye.

The group took their seats on the train. As they traveled, Aouda finally woke up. She was completely shocked to find herself on a moving train, wearing European clothes, and sitting with strangers. Sir Francis gently explained how Mr. Fogg and Passepartout had saved her life. She thanked them with tears in her eyes, but she still shuddered with fear at the thought of her enemies catching her. Seeing her terror, Fogg offered to take her with them to Hong Kong, where she had a wealthy relative. She gratefully accepted his protection.

At the next stop, Benares, Sir Francis had to leave the group to rejoin his military camp. They shared warm goodbyes, and the train sped off again, following the great Ganges River. Outside the window, the landscape constantly changed. They rushed past green mountains, thick jungles, ancient temples, and modern factory towns covered in black smoke. Mr. Fogg, however, barely looked outside, keeping his mind focused on the time.

Night fell, and the train roared through the darkness, frightening tigers and wolves along the tracks. They finally arrived in the city of Calcutta at seven in the morning. Fogg's ship to Hong Kong was leaving at noon. He checked his notebook. It was exactly October 25th. He had lost the two extra days he gained earlier, but he was perfectly on time, and he did not regret the delay at all.
