If you cannot hear word pronunciations, example sentences, or audiobooks on Vocafy, here are the most common causes and how to resolve them:
1. Tap the page first (Browser Autoplay Policy)
Modern web browsers (especially iOS Safari, Google Chrome, and Microsoft Edge) automatically block websites from playing audio until you have interacted with the page at least once. Simply tap or click anywhere on the screen before starting playback.
2. Check device mute & silent mode switches
- iPhone & iPad: Ensure the physical Ring/Silent switch on the side of your device is not set to Silent (red line showing), or check your Control Center volume slider.
- Bluetooth Devices: Verify that your sound is not accidentally routing to a connected pair of wireless headphones, smart speaker, or car audio.
3. Check browser tab and site permissions
- Check if the Vocafy tab has a small speaker icon with a line through it (Right-click the tab and choose Unmute Tab).
- Click the padlock or site settings icon in the browser address bar and verify that Sound is set to Allow.
4. Clear browser cache
If audio previously worked and suddenly stopped, performing a hard refresh (Ctrl + F5 on Windows, Cmd + Shift + R on Mac) or clearing your browser cache usually resolves temporary playback glitches.
