Animacy affects accusative forms, especially masculine singular and plural nouns.

I see brother.
На изучаемом языке
В английском у существительных нет специальных окончаний, которые постоянно показывают одушевлённость. Но человек это или предмет влияет на выбор местоимений и слов: he/she/they для людей, it чаще для предметов, who для людей, which для вещей.
The child said they were ready.
they = ссылка на the child как на человека без выбора he или she.
Изучающие могут употреблять it по отношению к людям, путать who/which/that или не распознавать they как единственное число для одного человека.
