's: ¿is o has?
Cuando acorta un verbo, 's puede ser is o has. Delante del participio (la tercera forma del verbo: gone, left, finished) suele ser has, aunque también puede ser is (The room's booked.). La frase completa te ayuda a decidir.
She's at the front desk.
Está en la recepción.
She's gone home.
Ya se fue a su casa.
He's tired.
Está cansado.
He's finished his shift.
Ya terminó su turno.
The room's booked.
La habitación está reservada.
En She's gone home. y He's finished his shift. la forma larga es has. En He's tired. y The room's booked. es is.
¿won't o want?
Después de won't va la forma base, el infinitivo sin to (I won't be long). Después de want va to + verbo o un sustantivo (I want to go, I want a coffee).
I won't be long.
No tardo.
I want to go home.
Quiero irme a casa.
We won't need a taxi.
No vamos a necesitar taxi.
We want a taxi.
Queremos un taxi.
¿can o can't?
Si no estás seguro, pregunta.
I can help you.
Te puedo ayudar.
I can't help you.
No te puedo ayudar.
Sorry, did you say can or can't?
