Warum es im Englischen keine informations und keine advices gibt: zählbare und nicht zählbare Nomen. Ob ein Nomen zählbar ist, entscheidet, ob a/an, ein Plural und many oder much dazu passen.

Du schreibst einer englischen Kollegin diese Zeilen. Was würde eine Muttersprachlerin anders schreiben?
Thanks for all the informations and your good advices. We have made big progresses.

Thanks for all the information and your good advice. We've made great progress.
Information, advice und progress sind im Englischen nicht zählbar. Sie haben keinen Plural und kein a/an. Im Deutschen sind „Informationen“, „Ratschläge“ und „Fortschritte“ dagegen ganz normale Pluralformen.
Did you know it?
Die Grundidee
Zählbar: eins, zwei, viele
Zählbare Nomen (countable nouns) funktionieren wie im Deutschen. Sie haben einen Plural, und im Singular steht ein Begleiter davor: a, the, my, this…
one book → two books
ein Buch → zwei Bücher
one idea → three ideas
eine Idee → drei Ideen
one person → several people
eine Person → mehrere Leute
I bought a book.
Thanks for the information.
Danke für die Infos.
Thanks for the feedback.
Danke für das Feedback.
That's good news!
Das sind gute Nachrichten!
We're making progress.
Wir kommen voran.
We bought some new furniture.
Wir haben neue Möbel gekauft.
Ein Stück davon
Willst du ein einzelnes Stück einer nicht zählbaren Sache benennen, hilft a piece of:
a piece of + advice / information / news / furniture
Can I give you a piece of advice?
Darf ich dir einen Rat geben?
That's an interesting piece of information.
Das ist eine interessante Information.
It's a nice piece of furniture.
Das ist ein schönes Möbelstück.
Im Alltag ist oft some natürlicher. Für einen einzelnen Tipp passt auch das zählbare tip:
Can I give you some advice?
Darf ich dir einen Rat geben?
Here's a tip.
Hier ein Tipp.
Mengen und Behälter
Wie im Deutschen zählst du Getränke und Lebensmittel über Behälter und Portionen, nur mit of dazwischen:
a glass of water
ein Glas Wasser
a cup of coffee
eine Tasse Kaffee
a bottle of milk
eine Flasche Milch
a slice of bread
eine Scheibe Brot
a piece of cake
ein Stück Kuchen
a bar of chocolate
eine Tafel Schokolade
Dasselbe Wort, zwei Bedeutungen
Manche Wörter sind in der einen Bedeutung zählbar und in der anderen nicht:
I drink coffee every morning.
Ich trinke jeden Morgen Kaffee.
Can I have two coffees, please?
Zwei Kaffee, bitte.
She has a lot of experience in sales.
Sie hat viel Erfahrung im Vertrieb.
The trip was an amazing experience.
Die Reise war ein tolles Erlebnis.
There isn't enough room in the car.
Im Auto ist nicht genug Platz.
The flat has three rooms.
Die Wohnung hat drei Zimmer.
Bei experience liegt eine typische Falle: Berufserfahrung ist nicht zählbar, und experiences sind Erlebnisse. „Platz“ im Sinne von Raum ist room oder space, nicht place.
Work und job, travel und trip
„Arbeit“ und „Reise“ sind im Deutschen zählbar, ihre englischen Gegenstücke work und travel aber nicht. Für die einzelne Stelle oder Aufgabe nimmst du job, für die einzelne Reise trip oder journey.
I have a lot of work today.
Ich hab heute viel Arbeit.
I'm looking for a new job.
Ich suche eine neue Stelle.
You did a good job.
Das hast du gut gemacht.
Travel can be expensive.
Reisen kann teuer sein.
How was your trip?
Wie war deine Reise?
Have a good trip!
Gute Reise!
The journey took four hours.
Die Fahrt hat vier Stunden gedauert.
