Your turn
I answer it. / I'll get it. / I'm going to answer it.
CorrectNot quiteCheck the capital letters.Check the accents.
I'll get it. I answer it calca el presente español y no funciona como ofrecimiento. I'm going to… suena a algo que ya tenías planeado.
Did you know it?
La idea central
Will: decisión del momento, promesa, predicción
will + verbo base
I'll call you later.
Te llamo más tarde.
She'll probably agree.
Seguramente va a estar de acuerdo.
We won't need much time.
No vamos a necesitar mucho tiempo.
1. Decisión en el momento
Ana:The phone's ringing.
Está sonando el teléfono.
Tom:I'll get it.
Yo contesto.
Ana:We're out of milk.
Ya no hay leche.
Tom:Oh, I'll buy some.
Ah, yo compro.
2. Promesas y ofrecimientos
I'll help you.
Yo te ayudo.
I won't tell anyone.
No le voy a decir a nadie.
I'll send you the file this afternoon.
Te mando el archivo en la tarde.
Do I open the window? también existe, pero pregunta otra cosa: si normalmente eres tú quien abre la ventana.
3. Predicción basada en una opinión
I think it'll work.
Creo que va a funcionar.
She'll probably be late.
Seguramente va a llegar tarde.
I don't think they'll agree.
I'll let you know.
Te aviso.
I'll get back to you.
Te confirmo después.
I'll think about it.
Lo voy a pensar.
Be going to: intención o algo que se ve venir
am / is / are going to + verbo base
Es casi igual que ir a + infinitivo:
I'm going to change jobs.
Voy a cambiar de trabajo.
They're going to launch a new product.
Van a lanzar un producto nuevo.
1. Un plan que ya tenías
I'm going to start exercising more.
Voy a empezar a hacer más ejercicio.
We're going to redesign the website.
Vamos a rediseñar la página web.
2. Algo que ya se ve venir
Look at those clouds. It's going to rain.
Mira esas nubes. Va a llover.
Careful! You're going to drop it.
¡Cuidado! Se te va a caer.
Presente continuo: lo que ya está acordado
I'm meeting Laura tomorrow.
Mañana veo a Laura.
We're flying to Bogotá on Friday.
El viernes volamos a Bogotá.
They're coming for dinner tonight.
Hoy vienen a cenar.
Compara:
I'm going to visit Laura.
Voy a visitar a Laura (intención).
I'm visiting Laura at six tomorrow.
Presente simple: horarios y programas oficiales
Igual que en español:
The train leaves at 7:20.
El tren sale a las 7:20.
The meeting starts at nine.
La reunión empieza a las nueve.
The store closes at six.
La tienda cierra a las seis.
¿Will o going to?
I'll open the window.
Ahora abro la ventana (lo decido ahora).
I'm going to open a new office next year.
I think prices will go up.
Look at these numbers. Prices are going to go up again.
Might, may, could: algo posible
It might rain.
A lo mejor llueve.
She may come later.
Puede que venga más tarde.
We could have problems.
Podríamos tener problemas.
Después de when, if y as soon as: sin will
Después de when, if, before, after, until y as soon as, el futuro va en presente simple.
I'll call you when I get home.
Te llamo cuando llegue a casa.
We'll start as soon as everyone's ready.
Empezamos en cuanto estén todos.
If it rains, we'll stay home.
Si llueve, nos quedamos en casa.
I won't leave until you come back.
No me voy hasta que vuelvas.
Un paso más: will be doing y will have done
will be + -ing muestra algo que estará en curso en un momento del futuro:
This time tomorrow, I'll be flying to Lima.
Will you be using the meeting room this afternoon?
By Friday, we'll have finished the project.
By next year, she'll have worked here for ten years.
